QSL

Qatar SC upstaged Al Sailiya 2-1 in Week 3 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Khalifa International Stadium on Monday.

Qatar SC star Sebastian Soria was involved in both goals, first assisting Anthony Okpotu to score (38th minute), and later scoring off a penalty himself (54th minute).

The penalty was awarded when Al Sailiya’s Bilal Saidani handled the ball while tackling a charging Badr Benoun inside the box.

Al Sailiya pulled one back with an exciting, inside the 'D' works, with their star winger Giannis Fetfatzidis making a brilliant backflip for Mohammed Muddather to score with a fine finish (68th minute).

This was Qatar SC's first three valuable points after having gone down to Al Arabi and scoring a draw against Al Markhiya in the first two games.

Al Sailiya have finished on the other side of the result in two of their three games so far.

But unlike what the scoreline against Qatar SC would suggest, Al Sailiya fought hard especially in the final minutes of the match but were unlucky not to score.

In 90+1st minute, Saeed Eisa made a header which hit the ground only to rebound and fly past a flying goalkeeper Sataa Al Abassi to hit the right post and away.

Another chance came Ahmed Menhali's way through a long pass sailing into the box, but he failed to make good of it.

In the 82nd minute, Al Sailiya's Carlos Strandberg's header just missed the target past the left goal post.

While both sides had equal possession, Qatar SC had more attempts on target.

Their captain Soria was almost central to the big action and a big chance went abegging in the 56th minute when he had only the goalkeeper to beat but Soria could not reach the ball to connect for a header.

Soon, in the 59th minute, Soria's header did not have enough power and went straight to the rival goalkeeper.

Qatar SC had swung into big action straightaway in the fourth minute of play when fed with a super cross, but Eisa Ahmad Palangi could not get a good hold on the ball when in front of the goal.

Two minutes later, Soria had his first shy on the goal but his kick went too far right of the goal post.

In the 13th minute, Al Sailiya's Saad Al Sowan had a good chance but lost his foothold resulting in a feeble shot straight to the goalkeeper.

A minute later, Fetfa shaped threateningly inside the box, but the danger was averted by Qatar SC defenders.

Midway through the first half, Soria moved the ball centre of the box brilliantly but his left foot kick was well held by the goalie.

In the 26th minute, Qatar SC's Nasir Baksh made a strong run down the right to make a superb cross into the box, but Palangi failed to connect.
