Chairman of CISM Organizing Committee: Qatar Made Qualitative, Distinctive Leap in Sports

Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the 44th World Military Parachuting Championships (CISM), Commander of the Special Forces, Staff Brigadier General Jassim bin Ali Al Attiyah, confirmed that the State of Qatar has made a qualitative and distinctive leap in all kinds of sports.

Jassim bin Ali Al Attiyah, said in a speech he delivered today during the opening of the tournament under the patronage and presence of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, and presence of the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, that the Qatar was and still is a pioneer in spreading the spirit of love and brotherhood between countries and acquaintance between peoples in different ways, including the establishment of such international tournaments, which are not intended only for competition, but for acquaintance and rapprochement for different cultures and the exchange of knowledge and experiences, which is the message of the International Military Sports Council.

The support of the country's wise leadership had a great impact in these championships and events, making Qatar at the forefront of countries that win awards and medals of all kinds in various fields, the directives of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, and his unlimited support made the Qatari teams loaded with great ambitions and hopes of people of Qatar to remain on top, he added.

At the conclusion of his speech, Staff Brigadier General Jassim bin Ali Al Attiyah thanked all the parties involved in organizing the 44th World Military Parachuting Championships, wishing success to all participating delegations.

For his part, Director of the World Military Parachuting Championship, Staff Major Abdullah Hamad Al Athba, expressed his great happiness at the opening of the championship today, pointing out that work in preparing for the Championship started early, which confirms Qatar's ability to host major tournaments in an ideal way.

Abdullah Hamad Al Athba, said that the organizing committee of the tournament benefited from Qatar's hosting of the first Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship with the participation of 8 countries in the Sealine, which was a preparation for the world championship, especially since the tournament was held in exceptional circumstances in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, where the tournament was held with Adhere to all precautionary measures.

The director of the World Military Parachuting Championship expected the Qatari team to achieve more distinguished results in the tournament despite the tough competition, praising the team for achieving many titles in addition to setting records in the Guinness Book of Records.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Brigadier General Herve Piccirillo expressed deep gratitude to the State of Qatar for hosting the 44th World Military Parachuting Championship, the warm welcome and its unlimited support for CISM.

Brigadier-General Harve Piccirillo said that the attendance of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani at the opening ceremony of the tournament is conclusive evidence of the strong relationship between the Qatar Armed Forces and the Qatar Olympic Committee.

He explained that the State of Qatar joined the CISM, 47 years ago, as it has become a member of it since 1974 and has been a permanent participant in all previous world parachute championships

He also stressed that the World Military Parachuting Championship in Doha does not stop at the limits of competition for winning and crowning medals and titles, but is a great opportunity to meet, get acquainted, exchange experiences and values of CISM as well as discover and share culture to strengthen relations.
