The Camel Racing Organizing Committee has issued the annual festival program of the HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sword festival for purebred Arabian camels for the 2022 season which will be held from March 19 to 31 at Al Shahaniya and Al Basir race tracks with 44 symbols and 276 cars allocated for the winners.

Camel owners and lovers of the heritage sports in Qatar are awaiting the launch of this grand final festival for the 2021-2022 season which includes 429 rounds. This year's festival will have awards including 44 symbols, including 16 golden symbols for camels of Their Highnesses and Their Excellences the Sheikhs, and 28 silver symbols for tribesmen, most notably of which is the silver sword and the golden sword.

The committee also allocated 276 cars as in-kind prizes for first places winners, as camels compete through 368 rounds for all age groups at Al Shahaniya racetrack over 13 days, in addition to the heritage camel race.

The organizing committee for camel racing is keen on holding heritage camel races within the activities of major festivals, including the annual festival of the purebred Arabian camel race in order to preserve the heritage sport. The race usually witnesses a high turnout, however, this year will be different as two rounds (the Arab Union) and (the Sarha and Marawah Marathon) will be added, making it five rounds instead of the usual three.

10.5 million riyals will be allocated for the Al Hiyal opening round, with 5 million riyals for the winner of the precious sword, 2.5 million riyals for the second place holder, one and a half million riyals for third place, one million riyals for the fourth and 500 thousand for the fifth place.
