QOC Beach Games kick off at Katara

The second edition of the QOC Beach Games commenced at the Cultural Village Katara, yesterday and will continue until March 25. 

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, QOC's First Vice-President Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana, Second Vice-President Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Executive Director of Aspire Zone Foundation Mohamed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Presidents of national sports federations and Directors of QOC departments. 

The second edition of the Games will see over 600 athletes competing in five beach sports including football, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, swimming marathon and karate.

By organizing the second edition of its Beach Games, the QOC aims to promote beach sport in Qatar, to keep the country’s unparalleled success going on after hosting the 2019 ANOC Beach Games in Doha.

A number of educational and cultural programmes are also being held on the sidelines of the Games to call on every single every person residing in Qatar to preserve the country’s environment. The campaign “Water is Life” focused on how important water is to sustain every day life and how it affects the longevity of sports. 

The second edition of the 2022 QOC Beach Games is receiving solid support from a number of local organizations, including Cultural Village Katara (Official Sponsor), along with the Kobeco (Official Logistic Sponsor), A & H Sports (Official Supplier) and Elan Print (Official Supplier).
