The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that the Football Union of Russia has withdrawn its appeal against FIFA over its exclusion from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

FIFA and the European Union, UEFA, had banned all Russian teams, whether clubs or teams, from participating in any continental or international competitions or qualifiers until further notice after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport said that the Football Union of Russia has informed the CAS that it has withdrawn its appeal, and this procedure will soon be terminated.

It was scheduled to meet Russia with Poland in the semi-finals of the second track of the European qualifying for the World Cup, but (FIFA) excluded Russia from its competitions, so Poland qualified for the final without playing, before beating Sweden and reaching the expected global finals end current year, however, the Russian Federation confirmed that it would continue its appeal against (UEFA), which prevented its clubs and teams from participating in continental competitions, as it hopes that the women's team will compete in the European Cup in England next July.
