Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Cricket Committee, crowned the winners of the Ramadan Cricket Championship after Star Cricket Club defeated the Sprite Cricket Stars in the final by seven wickets.
The first-of-its-kind tournament of the 2022 QCA T10 Ramadan Cricket Cup, ran from April 7 to April 22 at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium. The tournament was sponsored by Ooredoo and was attended by elite sportsmen.
The final match of the tournament, which saw participation of 16 teams, was played on Friday. The title clash was also attended by members of the Qatar Cricket Committee and Sabah Al Kuwari, Ooredoo representative, along with diplomats and a large number of fans.
The tournament was organised with an aim to develop Qatar national teams through local talent. It also focused on different sectors of players including expats and school children. QCA is also planning to hold cricket tournaments for the visually impaired and the hearing impaired.
Besides, the Qatar Cricket Committee is also looking to train cricket professionals such as referees, coaches and professional players.
