QFA President receives Kuwaiti counterpart and accompanying delegation

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), received in his office Monday Abdullah Ahmed Al-Shaheen Al-Rubaie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) and his accompanying delegation, which included Abdulaziz Al-Samhan, member of the Board of Directors of the Federation; Salah Al-Qena’i, Secretary-General; Muhammad Al-Amiri, Director of the President’s Office, and the President’s Advisers.

The reception was attended from the Qatari side by Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Mohannadi, Vice President of the QFA, Hani Ballan, member of the QFA Executive Office, and Mansour Al-Ansari, QFA Secretary-General.

The delegation representing the newly elected Board of Directors of the KFA were given a high-level reception, with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani at the forefront to welcome Abdullah Al-Rubaie and his accompanying delegation, at Hamad International Airport, before moving together to Al Bidda Tower, which hosts the headquarters of the QFA.

The reception comes in line with the distinguished brotherly relations between the two sides, and the meeting touched upon many common issues of interest to both parties, and discussed issues of common interest, which included strengthening cooperation frameworks between the two sides and the importance of activating them in the coming period, in a manner that serves football and provides ways to improve the game in each of the two countries.

The KFA delegation listened to a detailed explanation from Mansour Al-Ansari, the Secretary-General, about the mechanism of the QFA’s work in accordance with its vision and strategic plan for the years 2018-2022, which has seen multiple successes at all levels.

Al-Ansari said in his speech that the QFA is working with its institutional partners to facilitate all matters related to football in Qatar through several main pillars, the most important of which is the pursuit of excellence as a priority, through goals and objectives, both short and long-term, to ensure that things are going the right way.

He explained that the absolute commitment to transparency and mutual trust with institutional partners at all levels, working with unity and cooperation as one team, and the belief in the culture of winning has led the QFA to achieve its goals and objectives.

During his detailed explanation, Al-Ansari stressed the role of the QFA’s social responsibility programmes and its constant keenness to increase participation in football activities in the community, with a particular focus on schools and youth groups and maintaining active communication with the local community and football fans.

The Secretary-General concluded his speech by pointing to the increase in the percentage of commercial revenues, which helps create sustainable growth in the long term with continuous institutional development, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work. He also stressed the need for active communication with the football community across the world, with organisations and institutions at national, regional, continental and international levels, to ensure the continuity of developing strong cooperation relations, which are both durable and fruitful.

The President of the QFA stressed to Abdullah Al-Rubaie, the depth of the relations between the Qatar Football Association and his Kuwaiti counterpart while extending his congratulations to His Excellency on winning by acclamation the presidency of the Kuwait Football Association – in the elections that took place recently to succeed Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef, which made H.E. Al-Shaheen the twelfth president of the Kuwaiti Football Association.

The President of the QFA also noted the scale of the fruitful and distinguished relations between the Qatari and Kuwaiti Football Associations throughout the years, along with constant communication for the interest and development of football in both countries.

For his part, Abdullah Al-Shaheen expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani for this generous gesture and this distinguished reception, which he described as an extension of the existing brotherly relations between the two countries.

He expressed his wishes for the continued progress of the Qatari football project, which continues to reap the fruits of the professional planning established by the leadership of the QFA. His Excellency also praised the vital role of the State of Qatar at the global sports level.

At the conclusion of the visit, the President of the Kuwait Football Association expressed his great happiness and pride in meeting the President of the QFA, praising the generous reception and the constant support and attention given by the Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, while wishing him continued success in leading Qatari football to broader horizons and a greater future.
