The International Center for Sports Security (ICSS) participated in the "Intergenerational Dialogue Forum," organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), on the Role of Youth in Preventing Violent Extremism through Sport. The forum was held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, with the participation of a number of representatives of civil society organizations, United Nations entities, governmental officials, and regional experts, as well as young civil society leaders from the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).

This participation comes within the framework of the implementation of the Global Programme for the Protection of Major Sporting Events and the Use of Sports' Values for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, which was launched in June 2019 under the leadership of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office (UNOCT), and in partnership with (ICSS); the projects technical partner, as well as the United Nations Institute for Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), and (UNAOC).

Additionally, the United Nations has recognized the important role of the youth through the Security Council Resolution 2,535 (2020), among other noteworthy resolutions, by calling on member states to improve capacity building and inclusion of the youth in key peace processes.

In this context, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations provided a platform for young leaders from Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya and Morocco to make their voices heard in conversations on Prevention of Violent Extremism policy making, and Sport for Development, as well as the role of athletes and sporting events in promoting inclusive and diverse societies.

The regional dialogue emphasized the power of sport in promoting the increased participation of the youth in national and regional strategies to prevent violent extremism, as well as the role of the youth in promoting sustainable peace and development in (MENA). Moreover, participants took part in interactive panel discussions with regional decision-makers and policy professionals during a high-level event.
