Transport:

I am planning to travel by land. What are my options if I don’t want to bring a car to Qatar?

During tournament time, Qatar will be offering a park and ride feature at the Abu Samra border to facilitate the entry of fans by land. This will cater to thousands of vehicles and help fans reach central Doha and the broader public transport network. Fans will stop at Al-Galayel, where they can meet up with family and friends. As for procedures at the border, all fans will need to enter the fan tent to finish their customs processing.

Fans will be able to pre-book parking at the facility from 15 October.

What are the requirements for a car with non-Qatari plate numbers to enter and remain in the country during the FIFA World Cup™?

Cars not registered in Qatar will only be permitted entry into the country through exceptional circumstances. Those conditions will be announced on 15 October.

During what times will the Doha Metro operate during the FIFA World Cup™?

The Doha Metro will operate from 6 AM to 3 AM, Saturday to Thursday. On Fridays, the metro will operate from 9 AM to 3 AM.

My flight will land at Doha International Airport (DIA). What are my transportation options?

Fans arriving at DIA can walk to the nearest Doha Metro station: Al Matar Al Qadeem station on the Red Line. From there, they will be able to change at Msheireb station, which connects the Gold and Green lines, or Al Bidda station, which connects to the Green line.

Fans also have the option of using a 24-hour shuttle bus service (service number A840) from DIA, which will connect fans to Souq Waqif bus station, which is located next to Souq Waqif metro station on the Gold Line.

Fans can also take a taxi or book via a rideshare app.

The closest metro station to the departure terminal is Al Matar Al Qadeem station on the Red Line. A 24-hour shuttle bus is available for fans leaving Souq Waqif bus station to the departure terminal.

My flight to Doha lands at Hamad International Airport (HIA). What are my transportation options?

Fans arriving at HIA can walk to the nearest metro station: Hamad International Airport T1 on the Red Line. Fans can join connecting services to the Green and Gold lines at Msheireb station or Al Bidda station (Red and Green), depending on their destination.

Taxis are available from the arrivals terminal.

Visitors staying at the Fan Villages (Barwa Madinatna, Barwa Barahat Al Janoub) or onboard the cruise ships can use the 24-hour free shuttle bus service from HIA to their accommodation. The same service will be available for fans on their departure.

I am travelling to Qatar using the Match Day Shuttle Service. What options do I have other than taking a taxi or using the Doha Metro?

Fans can use the Stadium Express bus service from the following locations:

    • Souq Waqif Bus Hub North

    • FIFA Fan Festival Bus Hub (Al Bidda Park)

    • West Bay Bus Hub

Fans staying at the Fan Villages (Barwa Barahat Al Janoub and Barwa Madinatna) will have access to dedicated Stadium Express bus services on match days.

Bus operations start four hours before kick-off and end 1.5 hours after the final whistle.

Hayya:

Does every fan need to apply for Hayya?

Yes – every FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ ticket holder, including Qatar residents, will need to apply for a digital Hayya Card.

What benefits does Hayya provide me?

Hayya acts as the only pre-approved entry permit to Qatar for international fans. Only approved Hayya holders will be able to enter stadiums to enjoy the matches. Hayya will also provide access to free public transport during the tournament.

Appreciating the value of Hayya, several countries have announced accepting it as an entry permit into their territories, and there will be others announced soon to join the programme.

What are the Match Day Shuttle and Match Day Hayya?

The Match Day Shuttle allows fans who are not staying in Qatar to fly to the country, watch a game of their choice, and return to their point of origin on the same day. The Match Day Hayya Card will act as an entry permit to Qatar and provide access to stadiums and free public transport.

The Hayya website and mobile app can now accept applications from fans using Match Day Shuttle services. Fans will simply need to provide their travel details in order to receive their digital Hayya Card.

Will non-ticketed fans be allowed to enter Qatar?

Given the unprecedented demand for tickets and the vast interest in the country’s wide range of entertainment offerings, we will be welcoming non-ticketed fans to the country to enjoy the tournament’s atmosphere with family and friends. Up to three non-ticketed fans will be allowed to enter Qatar, as long as they are invited by one ticketed fan. Through the ‘Hayya With Me’ option, approved Hayya Card holders can share an invite with up to three people. Those invitees will be able to apply for Hayya. After receiving their invitation, they will need to pay a fee of QAR 500 in order to receive Hayya. Children under 12 will not be charged.

Can I book accommodation from third-party websites and use that to confirm my Hayya?

Yes. Bookings made on third-party websites, or directly by hotels from the Qatar Accommodation Agency portal, will be accepted on Hayya applications.

Will non-ticketed GCC nationals be able to enter Qatar during the tournament?

Except for Qatar ID holders, entry to Qatar will only be allowed through the Hayya Card or as an invited non-ticketed fan of a ticket holder. Recently, a number of GCC countries announced their willingness to invite fans of Hayya Card holders and welcome them to their countries, with more countries in the region announcing their support for the Hayya Card in the near future.
