The fourth round of the
Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab Season Six will get underway today,
with the opening day scheduled to witness dressage competitions at the Qatar
Equestrian Federation (QEF) Indoor Arena.
Maryam
Ahmad Al Boinin is leading the standings in Level 1 and Level 2 after she
claimed victories in the two categories in the inaugural round of dressage on
September 15. She rode Silvan to top Level 1 victory, before guiding
13-year-old Vol De Nuit Tardonne to win in Level 2.
Today’s
action will begin following the mandatory Vet Check.
Meanwhile,
teenager Haya Khalid Al Hitmi will look to consolidate her top spot in the
14-leg Small Tour, which will be competed tomorrow. The 14-year-old has
accumulated 82 points from the first three rounds, nine clear of second-placed
Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari. Mohammed Rashid Al Amri is third in the standings
with 70 points.
“My
target is to continue getting points in every round and I don’t aim for victory
in every round,” Haya said after the third round.
“My
target is to win the overall title in the Small Tour, and I am looking forward to being
consistent in my performance,” she added.
The
Medium Tour, which is also scheduled to take place tomorrow, is witnessing
tough competition for the overall lead with Mohammed Saeed Haidan on top with
75 points, just three points ahead of Khalifa Abdulla Al Khaldi. Hussain Saeed
Haidan is third in the standings with 68 points.
After the completion of
three rounds, Team Alfardan is leading the Team standings with 87 points
followed by Team ExxonMobil (75 points) and Al Salam Store (69 points).
Saturday’s
action will see the Big Tour, which is led by Mohammed Khalifa Albaker after
his three successive victories. He will take a strong lead of 15 points over
Cyrine Cherif and Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani, who are joint second with 75 points
each.
Also
on Saturday, Open Tour will be competing with Cherif looking to give a strong
show after her victory in the third round last week.
Meanwhile,
Manager of Media Committee Abdullah Al Qashouti said the Organising Committee
of Longines Hathab decided on this season’s competitions early this year to allow
the riders to prepare well for the season that will take a break for the
forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
