FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Security Committee to conduct drill with 13 countries

Under the auspices of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Head of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and in the framework of reinforcing the security preparedness for hosting the tournament, the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will conduct a five-day exercise 'Watan', starting next Sunday. The military exercise will see participation from 11 ministries and military and security experts from 13 countries including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Spain, Palestine, the USA, Turkey, and the UK.  The exercise 'Watan' aims at enhancing the role of the concerned authorities while carrying out their regular missions and additional tasks during the World Cup to assess the responsiveness in emergencies and enact the mechanisms of command, control and cooperation between military and civil agencies to achieve integration of their roles while accomplishing the missions. The security exercise 'Watan' is considered one of the biggest events in terms of the number of participating military and civilian authorities, in addition to the development of its events to combine the military and civil aspects. It also features the diversification of its various scenarios and gradations based on all kinds of potential risks while hosting the World Cup.
