Ziade, Chebli seal titles as Qatar National Sprint ends

Lebanese driver Mansour Chebli and Qatar’s Nadim Ziade clinched the Qatar National Sprint Open and Production Class 1 titles respectively at the conclusion of the sixth and final rounds.

Chebli clinched his fifth victory in six rounds in his Renault Clio, clocking a time of 1:10.059 to wrap up the six-leg series as he topped the Open Class 1 table with 125 points, 28 ahead of his closest Championship rival Ziade. Ziade finished second, clocking 1:20.66 in Round 5 to take his points tally to 97. Lebanon’s Jad Alawar came third in the last round as all three drivers finished in the same order in the Open Class 1 Championship standings.

Amro Abdulla won the Open Class 2 event in the final round, but Lebanon’s Jad Alawar sealed the O2 Championship title after taking his points tally to 118. Qatari driver Abdulla finished second in the overall standings with 104 points.

Abdulla Al Ghedaid won the Open 3 class after winning five out of six rounds in the National Sprint this season.

Meanwhile, Ziade clinched his fourth victory in the Production P1 Class to seal the title with 118 points.

Ziade, driving a Renault Clio RS, clocked his fastest time of the day – 1:13.042 – in his second attempt to win the final round. Chebli finished second in Round 6 as well as in the overall standings. Qatar’s Bassam Chebli was third in both Round 6 and the Championship standings.

Qatar’s Maher Serre, unbeaten throughout the season, sealed the Production Class 2 title in his Porsche Cayman GTS while Serre topped the table with 125 points.

Hassan Ali Abbasi was second in the standings while Abdulla Ali Al Abbasi finished third. Aleksandar Jokic came second in Round 6, followed by Ismail Al Amadi.

Francesco Fornaciari won the Production Class 3 title for the season with an unbeaten record as Hassan Ali Abbasi came second. Al Abbasi also finished second in the final round ahead of Hosam Al Watami.

The women’s title was won by Paige Be Jager who drove a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
