Delozier guides Amyr Du Soleil to Ras Umm Hasah Cup success

The H E Sheikha Iman M K Al Thani-owned Amyr Du Soleil (GB) yesterday captured top honours after the Rudy Andre Nerbonne-trained horse was ridden to success in the Ras Umm Hasah Cup - Purebred Arabian Conditions on turf by jockey Lukas Delozier.

At Al Uqda Racecource, the six-year-old grey horse won the 1,400-metre race, the feature at the Fifth Al Uqda Meeting, by two lengths ahead of Ateej (US) who had Marco Casamento in the saddle.

Ezzat Nafs (QA), ridden by famed jockey Alberto Sanna, was further 1.25 lengths back in third place.

Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, Racing Manager, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), presented the trophies to the winners.

Earlier, Mubarak Ali M Al Nuaimi-owned Sen Ding (IRE) clinched the first win of the day in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (Class 6) in a photo finish. The Hamad Al Jehani-trained three-year-old gelding was guided by Hugo Besnier as they went on to win the thrilling 1,200-metre contest while Imperial Fora (IRE), with Arnaud De Lepine in the saddle, came second.

The victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap 75-95 (Class 3) was secured by the Marco Casamento-guided Glengarra (IRE), trained by Gassim Ghazali.

Mohammed Ghazali-trained Angelic Queen (IRE), with Jefferson Smith in the saddle, came second by a short head while Return To Senders (IRE), also trained by Gassim, and ridden by Lukas Delozier, completed the top three in the QR50,000 race.

Thoroughbred Handicap 0-80 (Class 4) was won by Deliver The Dream (USA). The Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain-trained gelding was ridden by Jefferson Smith.

Hallab (QA), trained by Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, won the Local Thoroughbred Handicap 0-70 with Sanna in the saddle.

Nasser Saif A R Al-Kubaisi’s Bucanero (FR) won the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate (3yo only) as the Ivan Rossi-ridden three-year-old colt outplayed his closest rival Bahar Al Jasra (FR) by 3.25 lengths.

Hadi Al Ramzani-trained Sanad was guided to success in the Purebred Arabian Handicap 0-75 – reserved for Qatari riders – by Abdulla Rashid Al Hajri.
