Al Rayyan Sports Club signed Japanese international Shogo Taniguchi to the club's first team.
In a tweet the club said: "Al Rayyan contracts the Japanese international player Shogo Taniguchi"
The J1 club side Kawasaki Frontale held a farewell party for Taniguchi, 31, before departing for Doha to join Al Rayyan. Taniguchi would replace Palestinian international defender Yasser Hamad who is injured.
Taniguchi played for his country in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and presented impressive levels as the team reached the round of 16 before losing to Croatia on penalties. Coached by Hajime Moriyasu, the Japanese team defeated the German and Spanish teams 2-1 in the group stage.
