Qatar Claims 12 Medals on Day 2 of West Asian Weightlifting Championship, Qatar Weightlifting Cup

Qatar secured 12 medals on the second day of the ninth Men's West Asian Weightlifting Championship and seventh Men's and Women's Qatar Weightlifting Cup.

Rebeka Ibrahim claimed six gold medals (three medals in each tournament) in the 59 kg event. Hazem Hassan secured three gold medals in West Asian Weightlifting Championship and three medals (two silver and one bronze) in the Qatar Weightlifting Cup.

The two events kicked off Dec. 30, 2022 and are due to run through Jan. 04, 2023 with the participation of 100 athletes from 15 countries.

Executive Director of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation Zayed Mubarak Al Khayarin, praised the technical level of the Qatari weightlifters in both events.

Speaking in a press statement, Al Khayarin said that the results of the Qatari team are good so far, in light of the participation of most of them for the first time in a tournament of this size, in addition to the participation of male and female athletes with high levels and continental and international titles.
