The Bahraini national team defeated its UAE counterpart 2-1 in the match played on Saturday at Al-Minaa Stadium in Basra, in the opening matches of the first round of the second group within the 25th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup football tournament (Gulf 25), which Iraq will host until January 19.
Kamil Al-Aswad and Jassim Al Shaikh scored for Bahrain in the 60th and 77th minutes, while substitute Sebastian Tagliabue scored for the UAE in added time of the second half (90+2).
With this result, the Bahraini national team secured three points to temporarily top the second Group, pending the results of the Qatar-Kuwait match, which will be held later this evening.
Next Tuesday, in second round of the same group, Qatar will play against Bahrain, while Kuwait will play against UAE.
