The Qatari national team achieved an important victory over its Kuwaiti counterpart (2-0), in its first match of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 25), played at Al-Minaa Stadium in the Iraqi city of Basra.
The Qatari national team's double was scored by Omar Siraj in the 23rd minute, and Ahmed Alaa in the 38th minute from a penalty kick.
With the result, Qatar topped its group with three points, while Kuwait sit with zero points.
Qatar performed considering that it is participating in the tournament with a group of young players and others from the first team that participated in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The left winger of the Qatari team, Omar Siraj, won the player of the match award.
