Oman beat Yemen 3-2 this evening as the second round of group stage games got underway at Basra International Stadium in Basra, Iraq.
A second minute own goal from Ali Fadhl Abbas Ahmed put Oman ahead, but by the half hour mark, Yemen were leading 2-1 with goals from Abdulwasea Al-Matari (P) and Omar Al-Dahi.
However, a 37th minute goal from Arshad Al Alawi and a 47th minute goal from Issam Al Sabhi put Oman ahead again as they claimed all three points.
The result puts Oman at the top of Group A on 4 points, while Yemen sit at the bottom on zero points.
In the next round, Oman will face Saudi Arabia and Yemen will face Iraq on Thursday evening.
Saudi Arabia will face Iraq at 19:15 Doha time in the remaining Group A second round game.
