Hosts Iraq beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 this evening as the second round of group stage games got underway at Basra International Stadium in Basra, Iraq.
Goals from Ibrahim Bayesh (30’) and Aso Rustom (86’) were enough for the home side to claim all three points on offer.
The result puts Iraq into second place in Group A on 4 points, while Saudi Arabia sit in third place on 3 points.
In the next round, Saudi Arabia will take on group leaders Oman in their final group stage match on Thursday night - a must-win if they are to advance to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Iraq will take on Yemen.
