Qatar's Nasser Al Attiyah and his co-driver Mathieu Baumel were forced to withdraw from the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge due to the extent of the damage caused to their Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+ in yesterday’s crash on Stage 3.
Al Attiyah won the 266km third stage but finished with the rear bodywork, roof and windscreen ripped off his car. After the stage, the FIA ruled that the crew had to withdraw from the rally due to a damaged rollcage. The defending champion held a 27 mins 3 secs overall lead over Saudi Arabia’s Yazeed Al Rajhi.
