Umm Salal yesterday beat Al Khor 1-0 in their Amir Cup Round of 16 clash at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. A late strike by Yassin Bakhit (90+2) sealed the deal for Umm Salal.

Four players were shown the yellow card with Al Khor’s Said Mohamed Brahmi (23) and Musab Abdulmajid (29) the first ones to be penalised.

Umm Salal’s Khalifa Ababacar Ndiaye (70) and Omar Yahya Rabah (74) were also pulled up by the referee for foul play.

In another match yesterday, football giants Al Duhail edged past Al Kharaitiyat 1-0 after the game’s only goal was scored by Ismail Mohamed in the 12th minute.

Al Duhail enjoyed 76 percent of the ball possession as they battled past Al Kharaitiyat.

Umm Salal and Al Duhail have now reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

In one of the two matches scheduled today, Doha giants Al Sadd – the 18-time champions – will take on Al Markhiya at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, but the task will not be easy for the Wolves.

Al Sadd are coming of with a win over Al Sailiyah in the QNB Stars League while Al Markhiya lost to Al Wakra in their previous match.

In another match today, Al Rayyan will take on Al Sailiyah at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Both teams have struggled lately and will be desperate to advance in the Amir Cup, the country’s most popular football tournament. The Amir Cup final usually signals the end of the football season in Qatar.
