Beirut, Lebanon- Qatar’s Al Arabi defeated Oman’s Ahli Sidab 91-72 on Sunday in the Arab Club Basketball Championship, here yesterday.
Al Arabi raised their tally to five points from two victories and a defeat. The Qatari side will take on group leaders Lebanon's Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut on Monday in a match to determine the first and second places of the group.
Also, Lebanon's Homenetmen beat Egypt's Sporting 77-68 in Group B match.
Director of Al Arabi Hassan Ibrahim stressed that his side is looking to defeat Lebanon's Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut and seal the top of the group.
Ibrahim praised his team victory over Oman's Ahli Sidab, noting that all players had an outstanding game. Al Arabi coach Hatem Mamlouk stressed that the game against Lebanon's Al Riyadi is very important as it will determine the winners and runners-up of the group.
Mamlouk said that the victory over Oman's Ahli Sidab was crucial to qualify for the quarter-finals, adding that Al Arabi players have reached their top form after playing three matches in the championship.
