The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has officially opened the window for candidacy for its Executive Committee elections, which will take place during the Ordinary General Assembly 2023 on June 1.

The new board will oversee the game for the next four years.

The Elections Committee, led by Abdullah Hamed, is accepting nomination applications for the position of President of the QFA and for four members of the Executive Committee. The formation of the Executive Committee has been amended so that it will consist of only five members for the period from 2023 to 2027. The window for nominations will close on April 17.

The Elections Committee Chairman, Abdullah Hamed, has stated that the 18 members of the General Assembly of the QFA, consisting of 17 clubs and the Qatar Stars League, will be notified of the election date, the opening of the nomination window, and the agenda of the General Assembly.

Three forms will be sent to the clubs: the nomination for the post of President, the nomination for Executive Committee membership, and the names of two delegates to attend the General Assembly and vote in the elections.

After the nomination window closes, the Elections Committee, composed of Abdullah Hamed, Dr. Ahmed Al Emadi, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mahmoud, Eid Al Muraikhi, and Muhammad Al-Marri, will examine the candidates papers and notify them of the results within three days. The announcement of the results will take place after Eid Al-Fitr due to the nomination window’s coincidence with the holiday.

The Elections Committee will allow three days for appeals for any cases of disqualification, and the appeals will be promptly decided upon.

According to Article 35 of the Articles of Association of the Qatar Football Association, a candidate for the Executive Committee must be a Qatari citizen, not less than 21 years old, active in football, and without a criminal record. Additionally, the candidate must have good conduct and cannot hold an executive position or job in any club during their membership in the Executive Committee.
