Rizkallah secures the win in the second round of Qatar Karting Championship

Karim Rizkallah clinched victory in the second round of the Qatar Karting Championship following two days of exciting action at the new Karting track of the Lusail Circuit Sports Club.

Rizkallah won the 15-lap race at the 1.072-kilometre track after stopping the clock at 16:04.594 while Tameem Hassiba improved on his performances from previous week’s inaugural round of the Karting Championship to finish second. Hassiba was 10.013 secs slower than Rizkallah.

Danish Quereshi, who was fraction of a slower than Hassiba, booked the remaining spot on the podium with a time of 16:15.095.

Faesal Al Yafei, missed out on back-to-back podium spots as he finished fourth, 10.744 secs behind Quereshi. Bader Al Sulaiti and Salim Al Khishen marked a significant day for the Qatar Motorsport Academy (QMA) with all six top finishers being student drivers of QMA. Special mention goes to two drivers, Taha Hassiba, who started on front and dominating the proceedings until the final where he had a bad start and dropped down the field, and Khalid Al Muftah who took the lead and led the entire race, only to be disqualified for being underweight after the race. After two rounds, opening-round winner Bader Al Sulaiti leads the championship with 35 points, followed by Hassiba (30) and Faesal Al Yafei (27)

More than 40 competitors – mainly from the Qatar Motorsports Academy –are taking part in the inaugural Qatar Karting Championship.

The third round of the championship will take place on April 11 and 12 while the fourth round is scheduled for April 25 and 26.

The fifth and final round will be held on May 2 and 3. The series is organised by the Qatar Motor & Motocycle Federation (QMMF).
