The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) Chairman, Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, confirmed that the competitive season for local horse racing 2022-2023 is one of the best and most successful seasons in terms of technical and organizational aspects.
Al Mohannadi said that the current season was marked by the large participation of horses owners from inside and outside Qatar in the races organized by the club, which increased the value of the financial prizes allocated to the winners of the owners, trainers and riders in the races organized whether on the Al Rayyan or Al Uqda tracks.
He stressed that the club is working to develop the level of Qatari racing, and is keen to raise the status of the sport of parents and grandparents, and to achieve more in terms of victories by Qatari horses, especially in foreign races, as well as raising the level and attracting owners from abroad to participate in the races that are held every season in Qatar.
QREC Board of Directors Chairman indicated that after the end of the current season, the QREC will announce the program for the next season for the owners in order to prepare well, as it became required of them to pay attention to the acquisition of the best horse breeds and to contribute with the club in raising the level of racing and increasing the number of high-quality horses on the racetracks to convey a civilized picture of all the horse races that are held in Qatar, and to pay attention to appearing in a decent manner, and to keep pace with the expected boom in the club during the next stage.
Concluding his statement to QNA, Al Mohannadi explained that the club is preparing to organize His Highness the Amir Sword Festival which is the most important and largest event in the Racing and Equestrian Club every season, stressing that the festival this year will be different from the previous editions.
