Michael Olunga scored four goals as Al Duhail became the QNB Stars League (QSL) champions after thrashing Al Shamal 5-2 in their last match at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium on Monday.

It is the eighth overall QSL crown for the Red Knights and their first after the 2019-2020 season. With the QSL title, Al Duhail, who also won the Ooredoo Cup and the Qatar Cup, completed treble in the season.

The victory wrapped up Hernan Crespo side’s QSL campaign with 51 points – two ahead of Al Arabi, who sealed second place after beating Al Sadd 2-1 at their home turf of Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Olunga scored in 21, 32 (pen), 35 and 52 minutes after Al Duhail captain Almoez Ali put his side ahead in the seventh minute.

Following his heroics, the Kenyan striker also secured the Mansour Muftah Award for Top Scorer with a total of 22 goals throughout the QSL season.

Matias Nani, who converted a penalty in 48th minute and Moustafa Tarek, who struck in 90+4 minutes were the scorers for Al Shamal, who finished 11th and will feature in the play-off.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Marafee handed Al Arabi an early lead with a second minute strike while Omar Al Somah doubled the advantage in 55th minute – his 19th goal of the season. Baghdah Bounedjah’s goal in 90+2 minute came too late for Al Sadd as they had to settle for third place with 44 points after winning two consecutive QSL titles.

At Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium, Mohamed Khaled secured fourth place finish for Al Wakrah with an 87th minute goal against Al Sailiya, who were relegated after finishing on the bottom. The Blues Waves will feature in the next season’s Qatar Cup after a top four finish.

Meanwhile, Qatar SC finished in fifth place after playing a goalless draw against Umm Salal ending their season with 36 points.
