QNB Stars League (QSL) clubs are planning extensive preparations with an aim to get ready for the new season, which is expected to see strong competition among the sides.

Most of the clubs have opted for training camps in Austria as they have recently announced their schedule for their preparations abroad prior to the start of 2023-24 season.

After Al Sadd announced to stage their training camp in Austria from July 1 to 19, Al Rayyan, who survived relegation in the last season finishing ninth in the QSL, also picked the European country as destination for their overseas training camp.

The Lions will be based in Austria from July 17 to August 7, and will continue their preparation at home until the QSL season begins on August 17.

Al Shamal, who stayed in the top flight after winning play-off, will also travel to Austria for their training camp abroad.

They will be under Iranian coach Poya Asbaghi, who was roped in by the club for the next season, last week.

During their camp in Austria that will be held from July 15 to August 2, Al Shamal will also play several friendly matches the schedule of which will be announced later.

Meanwhile, Qatar SC, who earned a creditable fifth position in the QSL, will train in Spain from July 8 to July 29 as they will target a top four finish in the forthcoming season.

After naming Anthony Hudson as new coach and signing new players, Al Markhiya announced to hold their training camp in Turkey. They will return to training at home on July 1 following the break, before leaving for Turkey on July 12.

Al Markhiya will also play five friendly matches in Turkey and will return to Doha on August 5.

The club that got promoted from the Second Division secured an impressive seventh spot in the QSL standings.
