Team Qatar clinched the men’s team foil gold medal at the 15th Arab Games – Algeria 2023 in Algiers yesterday.

The Al Annabi team consisted of Ali Al Athba, Abdullah Khalifa and Khalid Alyafi. Al Athba also had won individual foil gold while Khalifa secured bronze in the same event earlier this week.

The victory raised Qatar’s medals tally to 15 medals including six gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

Also yesterday, Qatar’s men’s table tennis team comprising Ahmed Khalil, Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab, Fahd Al-Mughni and Ahmed Al-Awlaki, qualified for semi-final.

Meanwhile, Head of Qatar Delegation Nasser Al Mudahka expressed his delight on Team Qatar’s achievements at the ongoing Arab Games, saying athletes’ performances have exceeded the expectations.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said Al Annabi athletes are doing their best to make the country proud.

With Qatar’s handball and basketball teams showing good form, Al Mudahka said more medals are expected for Team Qatar.

He said the Arab Games is a great opportunity for the national athletes to gain experience and evaluate their level. Qatar is participating at the Games with over 100 athletes – the second largest mission in Algiers after hosts Algeria.

Al Mudahka, meanwhile, also thanked the organisers for their hospitality at the Arab Games.
