Team Qatar yesterday claimed a bronze medal each in table tennis and fencing events to raise their medals tally at the 15th Arab Games – Algeria 2023 in Algiers.
The national table tennis team comprising Ahmed Khalil, Mohammed Abdulwahab, Fahad Al Mughni, Ahmed Al Awlaqi and Abdullah Abdulwahab claimed bronze medal ending their fine run in the multi-sporting gala.
Meanwhile, the fencing team continued its medal-winning spree standing third on the podium of men’s team epee event. On Tuesday, Ali Al Athba, Abdullah Khalifa and Khalid Alyafi combined to hand Qatar gold medal in men’s team foil event.
Al Athba had also won individual foil gold while Khalifa secured bronze in the same event earlier this week.
Qatar’s medals tally has now reached 17 including six gold, two silver and nine bronze medals.
Also yesterday, Qatar men’s handball team advanced to the final after beating Iraq 24-23 in a thrilling semi-final.
