Doha - Al Ahli SC has announced the contract termination of head coach Nebojsa Jovovic following the team's recent performance in the 2023-2024 EXPO Stars League.
Bahraini coach Khaled Taj will succeed Jovovic, and coach of the Al Ahli SC's youth team Ivan Hucko was assigned as his assistant for the time being while the club's management explore options.
Al Ahli SC's management, headed by Abdullah Yousef Al Mulla, thanked Jovovic for coaching the team for four seasons and wished him all the success in the next chapter of his career.
Back in December 2019, Jovovic took over the team's training, succeeding Czech coach Milan Machala.
Taj will lead Al Ahli's training for their upcoming matches, as his first test will be during the Ooredoo Cup on September 9.
Al Ahli SC are currently 11th this season without points after losing three consecutive matches against Al Duhail SC (2-1), Al Sadd SC (4-2) and Al Gharafa SC (4-1).
