The Official Mascot for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup has been unveiled: a powerful sand cat called Haddaf.

A powerful sand cat called Haddaf is ready to pounce into action after being unveiled today as the FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023™ Official Mascot.

Haddaf will enjoy a high profile through media channels and on the ground in Jeddah before and during this year’s FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place from 12-22 December.

The tournament will feature six continental club champions from across the globe, as well as home favourites Al Ittihad FC – and Haddaf’s outgoing character will show how football is for everyone, wherever you are from.

With speed, strength and courage, Haddaf will delight football enthusiasts of all ages. Hailing from the rolling dunes of Saudi Arabia’s western sands, he has developed into a solid striker since first tapping a ball around with his paws as a kitten, and his passion for the beautiful game is shared by Saudis the length and breadth of the Kingdom.

Ahead of the competition, his bold presence will help to spread the excitement of the FIFA Club World Cup to the public through a series of meet-and-greet appearances in Jeddah. Fans are urged to stay tuned on social media for further details over the coming weeks.

Marco Nazzari, FIFA’s Director of Marketing, Brand and Business Intelligence said: “As the Official Mascot for FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023™, Haddaf will capture the excitement of a truly global competition. Whether you are following one of the biggest clubs in the world or an underdog hoping to spring a surprise, football is for everyone – and Haddaf’s character will demonstrate this.

“His boldness and energy capture the passion for football in Saudi Arabia, and he will play an important role in encouraging families and children to follow this tournament, which will bring some of football’s most famous names to Jeddah.”

The tournament will feature English giants Manchester City FC, Mexican debutants Club León, Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly FC, Asian champions Urawa Reds, New Zealand’s Auckland City FC and newly crowned Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense FC, as well as Saudi champions Al Ittihad FC.
