Qatari racing legend Nasser Al Attiyah (right) and his French co-driver Mathieu Baumel pose with their World Rally-Raid trophies during the FIA Awards in Baku, Azerbaijan. Al Attiyah won the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas after a gap of 15 years.
The reigning Dakar Rally champion also received his record 19th FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) title trophy during the two-day ceremony which concluded yesterday. This time, Al Attiyah shared the MERC title with Omani driver Abdullah Al Rawahi after they tied for points.
The glittering FIA ceremony was dedicated for single-seater, circuit sport and road sport categories as drivers and co-drivers from around the world were recognised for their standout achievements during the last 12 months.
