This year the U18 7s Asian cup tournament will be played in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in September. The tournament provides the first chance to see the future stars of rugby in Asia in action.
This year, Qatar’s national rugby team is coming back to the tournament among other teams already seen in the competition: India, Hong Kong, UAE and many more.
In their second appearance at the international scene the Qatar rugby youth team are preparing well and are confident in their level as stated by the players “our biggest challenge is facing the tournament favorite the UAE.” The UAE U18 7s team are back to back finalist and champion of the Asian cup and that has solidified their spot as the top contenders of the competition.
Qatar are looking to improve and thrive in all aspects of sport, over the last couple of years there has been a massive support towards a number of disciplines therefore rugby being one of the most popular sport in the world Qatar will look to build a future in the sport with the primary target is having a winning team ready for the Olympic games in 2032.
