Doha, Qatar- Qatari gymnasts, Ahmad Al Dayani, Ahmed Nabil and Jana Kiki are confidant ahead of this month 48th FIG Artistic World Championships.

The three, who participated in the recently concluded Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, have the necessary skills for the showpiece event, scheduled from October 25 to November 3 at Aspire Dome.

“We’ve been training hard and everything has been going in the right direction. The gymnasts are in top shape and everybody is ready to give their best,” Qatar’s Romanian coach Razvan Selariu was quoted as saying in the worldgymdoha18.com, the website dedicated for the 48th FIG Artistic World Championships.

“The championships will be tough considering the presence of top gymnasts, but we believe we can at least reach the pommel horse final going by the current form of Al Dayani. And anything can happen from there,” added Selariu.

Al Dayani, Nabil attended a training camp designed to fine-tune their skills, in Romania, while 16-year old Kiki trained in Portugal.

“This is the first championships to be held in the Arab world and we hope to give it our best shot,” said the 34-year old, who won a bronze medal during the 2004 Athens Olympics.

“The eyes of the world will be on Doha next month. It will be a great privilege for us to do something on home soil. It looks a daunting task, but it is not impossible. We are ready to make it happen.”
