Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 5 match against Umm Salal.
“We know that we will play against strong competitors, but we have great confidence in our players to win the three points that we need, and we always play for the three points.
“I am satisfied with the players’ performance and the results in the past matches were not at the level of the effort provided by the players. We have players who spare no effort and I have great confidence in the group. In the previous match against Al Rayyan, they were better due to the difference in level. In the Al Wakrah match, we performed well. We know our capabilities well and we have the ambition to come out with a positive result in all matches.
“Football is about results and we work to translate opportunities into goals, so we have to work on focusing more in front of the goal. We are one team and we work to get points in parallel with presenting a good level, and we hope to translate opportunities into goals,” said Alvaro Mejia.
Al Shahania player Andreas van Beek said, “The team is ready to face Umm Salal, the player’s goal is to collect the three points.
“The team’s preparations were in a good atmosphere and we did a good job, and if we give 100 percent of our performance in this match, the points will be ours, and we will work not to lose any points.
“We have more than what we have given, we believe in our abilities, and we still have many matches to achieve the points we want. We are performing well, but the results do not match the performance, and we hope to get better results in the upcoming matches.”
