The Samla Race has become one of the most significant events in the local sports calendar, promoting not only competitive excellence but also a healthy, active lifestyle. The name Samla, derived from the Arabic word meaning strength and perseverance in the face of hardship, reflects the race’s core values—resilience, determination, and endurance. This demanding event embodies Qatar's vision of encouraging physical fitness and well-being while fostering a spirit of unity and achievement among participants.

Alkass Sports Channels and Alkass Digital have played a crucial role in the race’s success, covering every edition of the event. Their in-depth coverage has not only broadcast the race to a wide audience but has also highlighted the unique storylines of each participant, further adding to the race’s allure and inspiring more people to embrace endurance sports. With their contribution, the Samla Race has gained recognition as a major platform for local athletes to showcase their capabilities.

The 2024 Samla Race, a grueling 200-kilometer endurance contest, will take place from December 5 to 7. Organized by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) with support from the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the event will include swimming, kayaking, mountain biking, shooting, and running. This year's edition is expected to have a record number of participants.

The race will begin with a 3-kilometer swim from Al Ghariya to Fuwairit Beach, followed by a 66-kilometer run to Umm Al Maa. Participants will then kayak 6 kilometers before cycling 75 kilometers from Umm Al Maa through Al Nasraniya. They will also engage in air rifle shooting and finish with a 50-kilometer run to Umm Bab.

Azzam Al Mannai, the head of the Organizing Committee, thanked the Minister of Sports and Youth for his support and noted the increased difficulty of this year’s race. DAAM’s Yousef Mohammed Al Nuaimi expressed pride in supporting the event financially, highlighting its popularity among Qatari youth.

Several major companies have also pledged their support, and winners will receive medals and over QR1.5 million in cash prizes. Those who complete the race outside the top 10 will receive QR10,000 as an encouragement award.
