Lusail International Circuit (LIC), also known as the home for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Grand Prix in 2021, and 2022 is set to host again in November of this year with the race set to take place December 1st. Alongside the Grand Prix, Qatar welcomes the women's Formula 1 academy race featuring the brightest and youngest female talents in a three-day motorsport race.

The Formula One Academy strives to break down barriers by boosting diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility within the sport. Their global initiative includes increasing the number of women in the sport by introducing a generation of female talent and supporting their motor sporting path. The highly competitive championship features women aged 16-25 years old competing against each other for first place on the podium.

Participants will be competing in a 165 horse-power open-wheel Formula 4 race car. The race is made up of fifteen drivers who are split into five teams - MP Motorsport, Rodin Motorsport, Prema Racing, Campos Racing, and Art Grand Prix. The participants range from a wide variety of countries that stretch across the globe including Brazil, France, Germany, Netherlands, Philippines, Switzerland, Spain, United Kingdom, and the USA. Two sisters from The United Arab Emirates, Hamda Al-Qubaisi (22) and Amna Al-Qubaisi (24) are representing women across the Middle East and GCC.

This year’s Formula 1 Academy weekend takes place on three days Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. During these three days, drivers will be expected to take part in two free 40-minute practices to help the drivers get familiar with the LIC. Next, they must compete in a 30-minute qualifying session to set the grid for two 30-minute races.

As the series heads into its fifth round, Abbi Pulling leads the drivers standings (190 points), followed by France’s Doraine Pin in second place (119 points). Then we have Chloe Chambers in third place with 89 points. Leading the teams chart with 225 points is Rodin Motorsport who is followed by Prema Racing and Campos Racing.

The FIA Formula 2 Championship will be accompanying the Formula 1 Academy with a support race, featuring 22 cars allowing driver to display their skills in front of a Formula 1 audience. The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2024 will be a stimulating and action-packed race before the concluding race takes place in Abu Dhabi on December 8.
