Qatari Olympian Rashid Saleh Al Athba delivered an impressive performance in the Men’s Skeet event at the ISSF World Cup Finals in New Delhi, India, finishing just shy of a podium finish.

Al Athba advanced to the star-studded final after a grueling shoot-off of 22 targets against Italy’s Tammaro Cassandro. However, despite his strong qualifying round, Al Athba was unable to maintain his momentum in the final. He scored 34 out of 40 targets, finishing in fourth place, just one shot behind India’s Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, who took the bronze medal.

In the gold medal match, Italy’s Cassandro – the Paris Olympics silver medalist – showcased exceptional shooting, missing only three out of 60 targets to win gold. His compatriot Gabriele Rossetti secured silver with a score of 56, having missed four targets. Notably, Paris Olympic gold medalist Connor Prince of the US and bronze winner Lee Meng-yuan of Chinese Taipei both failed to qualify for the final round.

The ISSF World Cup Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun Finals are prestigious events open only to recent Olympic and World Championship medalists, ISSF World Cup Final title holders, and the top eight performers in World Cup events throughout the year.
