2019 AMIR CUP: QFA GET SET FOR DRAW CEREMONY

The draw ceremony of the 47th Amir Cup will be held on April 14, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced.


Qatar’s most popular football tournament will bring together teams from the QNB Qatar Stars League (QSL) and the Second Division.


QFA said the draw ceremony to be held at Kempinski Hotel will reveal the match venues, the kick-off times and match-ups in the 47th edition of the tournament.


The tournament will be held over five stages with the first two rounds reserved for Second Division teams.


Mesaimeer and Al Shamal will kick off the match proceedings with a clash on April 11 at Al Duhail Stadium.


In the second phase of the tournament - set to commence on April 21 - will see top three teams from the Second Division competing against the 10th, 11th an 12th placed sides in QSL Stars League. The matches will be held at Al Gharafa Stadium and Al Arabi Stadium.


In the third stage, QNB Stars League teams (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th) will compete against each at Grand Hamad Stadium and Al Gharafa Stadium.


The fourth round - which is the quarter-finals stage - will see the top four of the QNB Stars League competing against each other on May 2 and 3 at Al Duhail Stadium and Al Arabi Stadium.


The semi-finals will be held on May 11 and 12 at Al Sadd Stadium where the final will be staged on May 16.


Hamad Al Mannai, Chairman of the Qatar National Competitions Committee, said: “The stages of the 2019 Amir’s Cup have been carefully studied and planned by the officials of QFA. The scheduling of the 2019 Amir Cup will give our clubs - featuring in the 2019 AFC Champions League - ample time to rest and prepare for their matches.”


Al Mannai said that the dates of matches have been approved for all the stages with only match-ups remaining to be decided.
