Jakarta, Indonesia- Qatar got the better of Indonesia in a high-scoring game at the AFC U-19 Championships, here on Sunday.

Following the 6-5 win, Al Annabi are now second in Group A and face Chinese Taipei in their final group match on Wednesday.

Abdulrasheed Umaru Ibrahim scored a hat-trick while Hashim Ali scored a brace and Mohammed Waad Abdulwahhab a single against Indonesia at a Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Qatar got off to a good start early in the match, scoring four goals in the first half and all the hosts could do was rally back in the second 45 minutes of play, where they were late starters. In fact, the Indonesian team was trailing 6-1 in the 65th minute.

Following the loss Garuda Muda need a victory against current leaders United Arab Emirates in the their final group match to progress to the quarter-finals.

Despite, their spirited game, they will need to cut out the defensive errors that cost them heavily against Qatar.

Indonesia skipper Nurhidayat fumbled in possession in front of his own goal and Hashim Ali made no mistake in giving Qatar their first goal.

Three minutes later, poor defending by the home side was punished by Abdulrasheed.  The 19-year old managed to run clear of the defenders and finish past goalkeeper Muhammad Riyandi for his first goal and his team’s second.

Qatar added a third in the 24th minute when a long-range effort from Mohammed Jadoua went in following a deflection off Nurhidayat.

Luthfi Kamal reduced the margin four minutes later scoring off a free-kick, making the ball loop over Qatari goalkeeper Salah Zakaria. Unfortunately, for the home side, that was the only goal they managed to score in the first half with the score-line reading 3-1.

Qatar added another one shortly with Abdulrasheed scoring another, four minutes before the break. A slick touch off a left-wing cross was effectively turned towards a goal.

Hashim Ali then got one in six minutes after the restart with a clinical finish. In the 59th minute, Abdulrasheed completed his hat-trick giving Qatar an impressive 6-1 lead and piling on to Indonesia’s misery.

Finally, Indonesian players pulled up their socks and started the blitz.

Todd Rivaldo got one back for the hosts, scoring a free-kick in the 65th minute. Four minutes later, Saddil Ramdani etched his name on the score sheet with another goal off a free-kick. The score now read 6-3 in Qatar’s favour.

In the 73rd minute Rivaldo scored his second and then added another eight minutes later to complete his hat-trick. Unfortunately, for the zealous home crowds, that was as far as the hosts could get.

Qatar U-19 won the AFC Championship in 2014 in Myanmar and the current Al Annabi are hoping to repeat the feat at this year too.

Result: Qatar 6 (Hashim Ali Abdullatif 11’, 51’, Abdulrasheed Ibrahim 14’, 41’ 56’, Mohammed Waed Abdulwahhab Al Bayati 24’) beat Indonesia 5 (Muhammad Luthfi Baharsyah 28’, Todd Rivaldo 65’, 73’, 81’, Saddil Ramdani 69’)
