Welcoming
over 25,000 visitors through its doors, the eighth edition of the much-loved
Qatar Motor Show ended on a high.
Taking
place at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, 187 cars were on display from
various categories including classic cars, super cars, luxury and executive
cars. Car enthusiasts could learn all about the latest trends and launches from
their favourite manufacturers at the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) sponsored
event, aptly dubbed ‘Driving to Innovation’.
This year’s
five-day show saw 14 debut launches of the latest models, as well as numerous
limited edition motors.
Ahmed Al
Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions at QTA, was delighted with this year’s
turnout, and touched upon the ever-changing nature of the event, “QMS has developed
significantly this year with a wider scope to include various awareness and
artistic campaigns in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Traffic
Department.” He stated, adding,
“We
continue to develop all local events and exhibitions, in addition to bringing
international events to Qatar to achieve the objectives of the next chapter of
the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy (QNTSS).”
This year,
as part of the QTA’s efforts to achieve such objectives, including encouraging
community engagement and tourism experiences reflecting the Qatari heritage,
the organisation collaborated with Mawater Centre. A Ministry of Youth and
Sports initiative, Mawater aims to unite car enthusiasts in Qatar, and to
encourage youth participation in events and activities.
This year,
Qatar Motor Show focused on enriching content, promoting innovation and
sustainability, and raising the international profile of the event in the
automotive world.
