AMIR CUP: TROPHY TOUR REACHES QATAR ACADEMY IN AL WAKRAH

The Qatar Academy Al Wakrah yesterday received the Amir Cup on the popular Trophy Tour in the presence of Al Sadd and Al Rayyan players.

The Trophy Tour is an annual affair with sports bodies and governmental and private organizations receiving the Amir Cup.

The QFA delegation consisted of Noura Al Tamimi, Head of Events and Social Responsibility, and Nabeel Qaid, Operations Coordinator. Also present were Al Rayyan’s Mohammed Alaa and Abdulrahman Al Korbi along with Hamid Ismail of Al Sadd.

A number of QA officials, faculty members and educational and administrative staff led by Badria Itani, Director General, Laurie Barber, Principal School Director, Fatima Ibrahim, Assistant Principal of the Primary School, Assistant Director of the Middle School, Reem Al-Obaidli, Public Relations Officer and coordinator of the visit, and students attended the ceremony held on Monday. The students asked a number of questions pertaining to the history of the championships that started in Qatar 47 years ago.

The players accompanying the delegation talked to the students about the training drills and the importance of the event.

The QFA delegation highlighted the importance of the football ruling body to engage communities with the Trophy Tour, an annual feature that signals the end of the regular football season. The visiting players also spoke about their team’s aspirations in this year’s Amir Cup which will end on May 16 with the title clash set to be witnessed by the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in what will be a match played under lights.

Mementos were exchanged between the two parties before players and students got together for pictures and autographs at the end of the visit.
