700 elite athletes from 44 nations
took part in the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships that took place between the
21st and 24th of April At the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Qatar made an
exceptional run at the championships where it held on to 2 gold medals, one
silver and 3 bronze.
Ashraf Amjad El Seify won silver in
the men’s hammer throw.
Musaab Ali
picked up a bronze medal in the 1500 metres after the judges had to
deliberate due to a photo finish between Musaab and Ajay Kumar Saroj who both
finished in 3:43:18.
Qatar’s third
medal was won in the 4X400 Relay by the foursome of Osman ashraf, abdulla
abubaker, bassem hemeida, and abderrahman samba. They won a Bronze Medal after
the result had gone the way of The India Team but again following a review by
officials, third place was given to Qatar.

Haydar Abdalla won gold and Jamal Hairane picked up silver for qatar in
the 800m

Samba won gold in the 400 meters hurdles.
It was
an astonishing night for China, Xie Wenjun Won
not only Gold for china on the last day he also clocked a new championship
record and a world leading time of 13.21 in the 100 metres hurdles
Bin feng also set a championship
record with a throw of 65.36 in the Women’s Discus throw
The event concluded with an
inspiring ceremony where the flag was passed on.
