THE HEJEN RACING COMMITTE: CAMEL RACING SEASON ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE

The Asian Cup for Camel Racing took place on the fields of Al-Shihaniya at the Hejen Racing Committee.

The Asian Cup, which took place over a course of 3 days, was made to commemorate Qatar’s national football team’s historic victory of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

The competition witnessed a large audience, as it was an open invitation to camel owners inviting all types of camels of all ages, 612 camels were registered and competed throughout 20 competitions with a distance of 8 km.

Mubarak Mohammed Rashid Al Jarboai Al Marri and his camel "Al Fahda", came out on top in the middle age camels category for females, known as "Al Thanaya Bkar", clocking a time of 12:20:4,

Whilst for the "Al Thanaya Q'adan", the male middle age camel category, Nasser Al Shahwani and his camel msyhaan triumphed the completion, clocking 12:33:9

Meanwhile, Nasser Abdullah Al misned and his camel “da’am” outshone the competition as he claimed the trophy for the older female camels category, known as “Al 7ayl”,

And Mubarak Mohammed Zaid Al Khayran and his camel “Al Rayyan” claimed the trophy for the older male camels category, dubbed as “Al Zumool”

Following the Asian Cup, the 2019 Qatar Arabian Camel Challenge took place a day afterwards at the Hejen racing committee. His Excellency Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani was in attendance to crown the winners. Nasser Abdullah Al-Misnad, owner of "Nodha" was crowned with the Silver Sword after winning in the Al 7ayl. This is the fourth sword achieved by Al Misnad, this season. Al Misned also achieved the Silver dagger for Al-Zamoul with his camel "Mishaab”.

His Excellency also crowned Saeed Mohamed Al-Kaabi, owner of "Mesika," after leading the Al Thanaya Bkar race with a time of 12:28:5 minutes. He honored Abdullah Zaid Al Khayran, owner of "Dukhan", which ended the Al Thanaya Q'adan race in 12:25:2 minutes.

Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Camel Racing praised the winners of this season, as the end of the season witnessed success at all levels, as well support from his highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
