AFIF TAKES HOME THE BEST PLAYER AWARD AT THE 2019 QFA AWARDS

Doha, Qatar - The Qatar Football Association (QFA) hosted their annual QFA Awards, honoring the brightest stars in Qatari football.

The star studded evening saw several dignitaries who included officials, celebrities, heads of clubs, coaches, players and media representatives.

The annual awards presented were Best Player, Best Under-23 Player, Best Coach, The Mansour Muftah Award (Top Scorer), Best Referees and Football For All.

The night honored many football officials for their outstanding efforts, The Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys won the Football For All Award, while Abdulrahman Al Jassim, Taleb Salem Al Marri and Saoud Ahmed were honored as the Best Referees.

Former Egyptian footballer Mohammed Aboutrika presented Al Sadd’s Baghdad Bounedjah received the ManSour Muftah award for breaking the record for the most goals in a season with 39 goals.

Al Sailliya’s head coach Sami Trabelsi received a special recognition for his outstanding effort he has produced with his team, placing 3rd overall in the QNB stars league 

As the night continued, all eyes were on 3 categories the Best Player, the Best Coach and the Best Player Under 23.  

3 finalists were nominated for The Best Under-23 Player, Abdulrahman Fahmy (Al Ahli), Bassam Al Rawi (Al Duhail) and Yousef Hassan (Al Gharafa), however Bassam Al Rawi was the favor as he received the award from former Morrocan international Youssef Chippo.

For the Best Coach, Al Sadd’s coach Jesualdo Ferreira ends his season on a high as he took home the coveted award, ahead of Sami Trabelsi and Al Shahaniya’s Jose Murica.

The Best Player award was stacked with players who have contributed a lot to their teams this season. Bounedjah and Al Duhail’s Almoez Ali were nominated for the award, but ultimately the lights shone bright on Al Sadd’s Akram Afif as he received the Best Player award from QFA Vice-President Saud Abdulaziz Al Mohannadi.
