SAMBA NOMINATED FOR 2018 MALE WORLD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

This week, the voting process for the 2018 World Athletes of The Year begins ahead of the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018, which will take place in Monaco in December.

Today, the IAAF released their 10 nominees for the Male World Athlete of the Year category. The lucky nominees were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, and contains representatives from all six continental areas of the IAAF.

Qatari athlete, Abderrahman Samba, world lead and unbeaten in nine finals at 400m hurdles, set the world’s quickest time since 1992. He was victorious at the Asian Games in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay. He also won in the Coninental Cup, as well as being crowned Asian Indoor champion at the 4x400m relay.

The finalists will be selected through a three-way voting process. The IAAF Council and the IAAF Family will cast their votes by email. Fans can cast their vote online via the IF’s social media platforms. Individual graphics will be posted on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram this week; a ‘like’ on Facebook and Instagram, or a retweet on Twitter will count as one vote.
