Doha, Qatar- In a unique initiative aimed towards empowering children through education, the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation are organising a charity bicycle race on Saturday.
‘Ride for Education’ is a one-day event, hosted in partnership with Sheraton Grand Doha along with eight more Marriott Hotels.
The race aims to raise awareness and funds in support of the EAA Foundation, providing education to underprivileged children across the world.
The 40km ride will begin at Sheraton Hotel Park, where cyclists will head to The Pearl, then Doha Marriott, before heading back to Sheraton Grand Doha.
Led by renowned Qatari cyclist and Carbon Wheels founder Ali Bin Tawar, the ‘Ride for Education’ aims to raise funds to educate children all over the world. Donation apart, the proceeds from the ticket sales will also go towards the sales.
The event has segregated three Donation Categories where the participants can register for the race. They are - QAR 350/ Gold, QAR 250/ Silver, QAR 150/ Bronze. A special jersey will be provided to those taking part in the event.
Guided by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, UN SDG advocate and Founder and Chairperson of EAA, and her dream of providing education to 10 million children worldwide, the Foundation and its partners have invested a total of over $1.8 billion so far. Since the initiative began in 2012, the programme has enrolled into education over 6 million children worldwide in areas affected by poverty, discrimination, natural disaster, and conflict. The foundation currently has commitments to reach 10 million out of school children, fulfilling Sheikha Moza’s 2012 promise.
