 Three days after Qatar met Brazil in an international friendly, Qatar’s Olympic team will meet the South American team’s Under-22 team in their third match of the Toulon Tournament in France, today.

The match will take place at Stade Jules Ladoumègue in Romorantin-Lanthenay, central France and will kick off at 6.30pm Qatar time.

Qatar will be looking to secure their maiden win in this year’s tournament today, having already lost both of their previous matches in the tournament. 

The Qatari boys lost to French U-18 2-0 in their opening fixture before going down to Guatemala 2-0 on Wednesday. 

 This year’s tournament, which will be held in the region of Provence from June 1 to 15, will be the 47th edition of the annual event.

Qatar, who are making their 6th appearance, join three Asian teams namely Bahrain, China and Japan in the annual 12-team event which will take place across six host cities in Southern France.

Qatar are pitted along with France, Guatemala and Brazil in Group C.

In this season the tournament will be contested mostly by under-22 national teams, although France, Portugal, England and Republic of Ireland will play with their under-18, under-19, under-20 and under-21 teams, respectively.

Mexico, Chile, England, Portugal and Ireland are the rest of the teams who are competing in the 15-day event.

Qatar squad is using the Toulon Tournament to get match practice before feature in the AFC Asian U-23 Cup to be played in Thailand next year. The event in Thailand will act as the qualifier for Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
