The Executive Committee and jury members of the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive (AIPS) are meeting in Doha this week to create a shortlist of candidates for the first edition of their prestigious Sport Media Awards.
Hosted by Qatar Sports Press Committee at Sharq Village and Spa from tomorrow until the 2nd of November, Executive Committee members, chaired by Gianni Merlo, will meet with a jury to view all entries received. With entrants hailing from 119 countries, the meeting in Doha will determine the three finalists from each category. The categories include: Sport Action (Photography), Portfolio (Photography), Best Column (Writing), Best Colour Piece (Writing), Athlete Profile (Video), Documentary (Video), Audio and Weblog.
In December, the finalists will be announced, and will be invited to the Awards Ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland on the 21st of January. Not only will each winner receive an AIPS Sport Media Awards trophy, they will also walk away with $8,000. Second prize will be a diploma and $3,000, while those in third place will receive $2,000.
