QATAR'S UNDER 19'S QUALIFY FOR U-20 WORLD CUP

Qatar's U-19 team has qualified for the FIFA U-20 Football World Cup, which will be held in Poland next year..


The Qatari team beat Thailand 7-3 in Jakarta yesterday, in the quarter-finals of the U-19 Asia Cup, thus becoming the first team from Asia to qualify for the World Cup.


In the semi-final, Qatar will face the winners of the South Korea and Tajikistan quarter-final.


At the end of regular time, both teams were tied three goals each. Qatar players changed the level of their game in extra time, scoring four goals without conceding any, taking the final tally to 7-3.


Qatar led the group stage with six points from three matches. They lost to the UAE, then defeated both Indonesia and Chinese Taipei.


The Qatari team's coach Bruno Pinheiro said ahead of their meeting with Thailand that qualifying for the youth world cup was a huge motivation for the players.


The Poland World Cup will be held from May 23 to June 15, 2019.
